I had two tests today. Two ESSAY tests...back to back. And now I have to write a paper. My hand hurts and so does my brain, so I'm blogging to avoid work and to ignore the fact that I have the worst case of writer's block I've ever had. I have no idea how to write a philosophy paper and I don't wanna do it. At any rate, with my two essay tests today, I ended up missing grab and go by about 10 minutes, so I went to the appartment in search of food. I decided on a ham and swiss sandwich, since those were the only sandwich fixings in the refrigerator. I don't like ham sandwiches and I don't like swiss cheese, but together, something amazing happens. It's as though they are destined for one another. Perhaps the reason I never liked them individually was because they weren't intended to be eaten seperately. I really believe that ham was created to go with swiss cheese and swiss cheese to go with ham. It was destiny ... and it was beautiful. My taste buds are still dancing. I'm sure there's some sort of life lesson here somewhere about remembering to try new things or some rot. So, try something new, you never know when you'll be wonderfully surprised.

Sorry it's been so long since I've updated, but i was away from my computer all during Easter Break. I did absolutely nothing school related, which of course means I'm screwed now, but it was worth it. I had quite an enjoyable break. I was able to get a lot of personal errands taken care of, I got to paint, but I spent most of my break with my Justin and his wonderful family. Easter Sunday was especially nice. We spent the entire day with his family doing the "Easter thing", (Sunrise service, church, Easter dinner and the like). I like them and I find that they are all becoming quite precious to me. The more time I spend with them, the more I feel like they are becoming my family as well. It's a nice feeling. Sunday was also the day that my 40 day fast from chocolate ended. Oh, glorious day! I will never under any circumstances give up chocolate for lent again. It was rough, but I am free to indulge myself once again. Justin took me out and tried to coach me in my tennis skills over break as well. I'm not sure who all knows, but Kristin and I are in the "special" tennis class. The coach separated us out to work with us individually because we're sooooo bad. I don't think it helped, but it was nice that he tried. Anyway, when Justin and I went to practice at the Elkton tennis courts it was 10 o'clock, but we were told that the courts were lighted. They weren't. We tried to work on my foot work and my hand eye coordination, but I fear that his efforts were futile as well. Perhaps we'll have to go practice sometime when we can actually see the ball. That would probably help considerably. Well I think that pretty much sums up the highlights of my fascinating Easter Break. If you weren't interested in my Easter Break and were simply looking for amusement, I'm sorry about your luck ;)

I just got finished with segment four of project nap time. For those of you who don't know, Kristin and I have taken it upon ourselves to nap on at least one couch in every academic building on campus and in the KCC before the end of the year. Today we took the couch on the third floor in Flory, the education department. It is by far the most divine couch on campus (so far). They're firm, but soft and seem to curve in all the right places. The only problem with napping on this couch is its location. It is near a vending machine that cuts on and off and people tend to pass by rather frequently. However, once you are asleep these factors are no longer a problem at all. Thus far, I have three others with which to compare it. There is something to be said for the couch on the second floor in Flory as well, however the arm rests are a bit hard, so it makes resting your head problematic. They are like fluffy clouds though, and you can't ignore softness of that magnitude. The couches in the basement of the library are also particularly good for napping. They are soft enough to be comfortable, though nowhere near as soft as either of the couches in Flory, but they are isolated, which is very important for a good nap. People rarely, if ever, venture into the basement of the library making it a quiet, peaceful place to nap. My longest nap (nearly 3 hours) was here, and for the most part it was completely undisturbed. The other place I have napped thus far is the couch in Bowman. Not that comfy and often a very busy place - a bad combination for nap seekers. However if you are tired enough, you can make it work and still wake up refreshed.

I just realize that this is probably my longest post so far and its all about naps. How sad is that?

I have been in the writing center for the past FOUR FREAKING HOURS working on this stupid postmodernism handout. I figured that since I knew what I wanted to talk about and understood the material, that it would only take me a couple of hours to put together the outline/handout for tomorrow complete with notes for me. Aparently I was sorely mistaken. I'm only half way done and Chris didn't bring his outline notes like he was supposed to, so even after I finish my outline, I still have to blend his outline with it after he e-mails it to me "later tonight" ... whenever that'll be. ARGH! But you don't come here to hear me complain about how crappy my life is... actually, yes you do. I will however try to make my next post something more amusing and interesting.

It's amazing, the twists and turns that life leads you on. Yesterday began as just a regular day; I was actually in the library reading Lyotard like I was supposed to be doing all week, when I look up to see Justin standing over me. We hopped in the car and drove to the Maple Festival where we stuffed ourselves. Justin told me that he and his family used to go there all the time when he was younger, so I was able to catch a glimpse of his childhood. On our way back to the car, we stumbled across an amazing find at a yard sale. Justin's face lit up as he exclaimed, "A light bright! I want one!" While we were at the Maple Festival, we realized that Elkins, my "hometown," was only an hour drive from there, so we made a quick jaunt into West Virginia. We drove around and I showed him bits of my past, my old home, and school, and church. It was a beautiful bonding experience and I got to touch a bit of my past. From there we drove to Oakland to surprise my family with a quick visit and a couple of souvenirs from the Festival. We spent a few hours visiting and drove back to Virginia (and Mom gave us another light bright. Our impromptu trip was one to be remembered and treasured for a long time to come. Besides, you know it's a good day when you come out of it with not one, but two light brights.

Yeah, so today was supposed to be spent exploring the fascinating philosophy of Jean-Francois Lyotard, but that didn't happen. I'm such a slacker. Instead I ended up spending the evening with Jenn, Kristin, and 2 of Kristin's friends at a hardcore Christian rock concert. I tried to be strong, but who can resist the Kristin when she goes all weepy, begging on the floor and exposing the belly. So, instead of spending the night enriching my intellect, I spent the better part of my evening in a thumping church pew with in a sanctuary full of rowdy, hardcore Christians. Good times...but Lyotard awaits, so I must be off.

Happy St. Patrick's Day everyone. That's pretty much all I have to say for right now. I'll be in the Writing Center all afternoon, so perhaps if I get bored (and need a distraction from reading philosophy) I shall post again.

If anyone is interested in learning about the "philosophy reading" that seems to be comsuming so much of my time go here

In the interest of keeping Kristin from killing me, I am writing an entry. I am officially a nerd. Work at the writing center can get pretty dull (especially when I have philosophy to read) so, I was playing with Microsoft Word trying to learn some of the "cool" shortcuts. Some of them by the way are actually pretty time saving. For instance, you can double space your paper by pushing control 2, but you probably aren't interested in all that. Besides, it pales in comparison to Kristin's bathroom story anyway.

She's here in the Writing Center with me and she decided it was time for a piss break. When she came back she told me that she hurt her gimp leg even more because she had to climb out of the bathroom stall by going over it since the door got "stuck". She and I went to investigate and I discovered yet another one of my super powers. Aparently I can make bathroom stall doors magically unstuck, because I kicked in the door that had her helplessly trapped went in, locked it, unlocked it and calmly walked out. Yeah, I'm a hero, but what else is new?
