It's amazing, the twists and turns that life leads you on. Yesterday began as just a regular day; I was actually in the library reading Lyotard like I was supposed to be doing all week, when I look up to see Justin standing over me. We hopped in the car and drove to the Maple Festival where we stuffed ourselves. Justin told me that he and his family used to go there all the time when he was younger, so I was able to catch a glimpse of his childhood. On our way back to the car, we stumbled across an amazing find at a yard sale. Justin's face lit up as he exclaimed, "A light bright! I want one!" While we were at the Maple Festival, we realized that Elkins, my "hometown," was only an hour drive from there, so we made a quick jaunt into West Virginia. We drove around and I showed him bits of my past, my old home, and school, and church. It was a beautiful bonding experience and I got to touch a bit of my past. From there we drove to Oakland to surprise my family with a quick visit and a couple of souvenirs from the Festival. We spent a few hours visiting and drove back to Virginia (and Mom gave us another light bright. Our impromptu trip was one to be remembered and treasured for a long time to come. Besides, you know it's a good day when you come out of it with not one, but two light brights.
