But that was before I talked to the Kristin, my sister, and my wonderful roomie. All is fair in the world once again.
Saturday was fabulous. Justin and I took a trip to Burmingham Alabama, which is about a 4 hour trip from Oxford, so that I could meet Anne Rice. She was holding a book signing for her new novel "Christ the Lord: Out of Egypt." She has converted back to Catholicism and is now dedicating her writing talents to setting down a first person narrative on the life of Christ. We got to hear her speak on her new novel, and her return to the church, as well as the despair that she was in when she wrote The Vampire Chronicles (which make a notable contribution to my geek factor). I realize just how truly geeky I was while waiting in line to get my book signed. I was among "my kind," but I quickly realized how painfully uncool everyone there was. It was good to have my inner nerd fed though. Since my departure from BC that part of myself has been a bit neglected, as Justin doesn't have a very big geek factor.
At any rate, I now have a respectable Anne Rice collection that consists of a signed copies of "Interview with the vampire," "Blood and Gold" as well as her new novel. Life is good.
