Hooray for 5th Sunday. No Sunday School lesson to plan and I actually got to sleep in 2 days this week. I needed it to, what with working almost 50 hours last week and quite a challenging week ahead. We're supposed to be getting 8 new people this week, which means I'll be helping with training 2 days this week. I enjoy it, don't get me wrong, but it is quite tiring work. Should be fun though. Guess that's all for now...

First I want to say that "new Blogger" seems like a pain in the ass. I don't know why people insist on messing with shit that doesn't need to be fixed. Perhaps in time I will learn to like this better, but that's my initial impression.

At any rate, complaining about blogger isn't the reason I started this post anyway.

Since I last posted a few things have happened that I want to make special note of. First, Kurt Vonnegut died on Wednesday of last week (the 11th I believe). I was going to post something that day, but our internet server was being stupid, so it had to wait until now. I've since broken out "Cat's Cradle" in order to do a little re-reading. The literary world lost a good one.

Secondly, I went to my first step show. Twas very cool, although some Sororoties need to learn that stepping is not the same thing as dancing. After the contest was over, Justin and I stood front and center for the Nappy Roots concert here on campus. We were in the front row, so close that we had to look up to see the performers. Twas very awesome if I do say so myself. And after the show I found ten dollars. It was quite the good night for me.

And lastly, I just want to make mention of the Virginia Tech shooting. I was shocked to hear it on the news yesterday. It's so sad to know that something so terrible happened so close to home. I don't really know what to say about it.

Alright. I think that was everything. If I forgot something, there's always tomorrow. Speaking of which, I have to be at work tomorrow at 6 a.m. to observe the training of 4 new employees. I guess you could call it my training to do the training. So I best be off to bed soon.

One more quick thing. Justin and I found a house. (I dont' think I've mentioned it previously, but they are tearing down the Village Apartments b/c the chancelor here is a dick head). Anyway, it's an adorable little house with a beautiful back yard and it even has a white picket fence. We're sharing the house with our friend and neighbor, Grady. Should be some serious good times. I'm looking forward to it.

Happy Easter!

Today, I taught my sunday school class and enjoyed a lovely family day with Justin and his mom, dad, and sister. We had an absolutely wonderful Sunday dinner and then went to the grove, where I painted outside for the first time ever. It was fun, but the wind does pose some problems; blowing my stirofoam plate (which is my ghetto pallette) and drying the paint much more quickly than I'm used to. I figured that since I was in the grove, I would paint the grove. It turned out o.k., but I'm not completely happy with it. It looks kind of "cartoony", so I'm thinking I'll have to go back in and do some detail work and maybe add a few more trees (three hardly constitute a grove). We'll see. I hope everyone else had as fabulous an Easter as I did today.

And, I got a PROMOTION!!! I'm so excited. I interviewed for the training coordinator position on Tuesday, and Brittany (my boss) called me on Friday (I took the day off to spend with the in-laws) to tell me that she would like to offer the position to me. I accepted, and I'll start training for it this week. I can't wait. I don't think I've ever been this excited about going to work...ever.
